Thameslink has announced that it will increase weekend train services between Cambridge and Brighton from this spring.
The new timetable, in place from Sunday 17 May, will double the frequency of Saturday services on the route to two trains per hour, matching the weekday service. In addition to Cambridge, six Hertfordshire stations will gain the extra direct service to London and Brighton each hour: Royston, Ashwell & Morden, Baldock, Letchworth Garden City, Hitchin and Stevenage, from where it will run fast to Finsbury Park.
On Sundays, the existing hourly Cambridge to Gatwick Airport service will be extended to run to and from Brighton.
Thameslink Managing Director, Tom Moran, said: “These extra services, which are the only significant timetable changes on this part of the Thameslink network, will make it much easier and more convenient for our Cambridge and Hertfordshire passengers on a weekend, whether they are travelling to London, on to Gatwick Airport and the south coast, or connecting to another route.”
