Dear Friends,

As the end of last year approached, we already knew that 2016 would be a milestone in our history, full of events and work we have been planning since the beginnings of our
group.

2015 ended with the transfer of former demonstrator Di3.623 to Hungary lying ahead in foreseeable time, which, after spending months preparing the move and overcoming
last-minute obstacles, finally took place in February 2016. The fact that we were able to save this technical landmark of international significance is also the merit of the previous
owner of the unit. The Swedish railway operator TÅGAB knew of our preservation plans and supported us by selling the locomotive for a very affordable price as well as by giving substantial assistance during preparation of the transfer. We also thank TÅGAB for selling us the bogies of Di3.605, complete with traction motors, and a radiator roof section, for
an equally affordable price.

The arrival of Di3.623 to Hungary was met by much skepticism - to many, it seemed unrealistic to restore the locomotive to operable condition in reasonable time. Hopefully, the other highlight of the year, the reception of parts supply locomotive SNCB 5201, could allay these doubts. Years of negotioation and preparation preceded the purchase and
transfer of the unit. As we began searching for a parts supply in 2013, we had the rebuilding of M61-002 in mind - meanwhile, the arrival of Di3.623 changed our priorities. This, nevertheless, will not mean that we would give up on 002 entirely, as we still envisage the restoration of the latter locomotive in the long term.

Aside from these major achievements, we should also mention that this year, we completed the first comprehensive scheduled overhaul of our first locomotive, 618 010, since its return to service. Most of the revision was carried out by our own active members and supporters. During the overhaul, we also completed steps we have been planning for years. In addition to extensive repairs of the prime mover, we swapped the auxiliary generator to a rebuilt unit we purchased earlier in the USA. Also, carbody repairs and rebuilds were carried out which have already been planned long ago.

The program of the year would not have been complete without public appearances of our locomotive. Just like in previous years, 010 took part in several events at the Railway Historic Park, such as the Oldtimer Show in the spring, the Museum Night in the summer, or the Sausage Festival concluding the season. This year's excursion train was scheduled for June, and visited lines 2, 4, and 1. We were first to enter the limestone quarry of Baumit Kft. at Dorog with a passenger train, and possibly one of the last to approach the former main line to Felsőgalla as far as track conditions allowed. This special run was the first occasion for us to use the passenger rolling stock of MÁV Nosztalgia Kft. The prospect of collaboration with the company was already outlined at the "NOHAB Reunion" in Tapolca in December last year - we hope that the good experience with this year's excursion
train will mark the beginning of a lasting partnership. Contrary to past practice, we operated yet another passenger run this year. We meant our second excursion train to be a recompense for the NOHAB-hauled passenger services of the State Railways north of Lake Balaton which were cancelled by the leadership this summer. Yet another good news to
conclude the year: our locomotive will once more visit its former home depot Tapolca on December 30, joining the consist of the special run of this year's NOHAB Reunion which
will feature 8 locomotives altogether.

This year, we received a total of HUF 2,646,518 (ca. EUR 8,500) of icome tax donations - this is the highest sum in several years. We would like to thank for this outstanding donation, as well as for the regular or occasional donations of our supporters. We are especially grateful for the generous financial support of our faithful long-time supporter
Klaus Korbacher for his significant contribution to saving the demonstrator Di3.623, and purchasing parts supply unit 5201.

In addition to donations, many of our supporters also take part in our activities "behind the scenes" with repairs, as locomotive engineers, or give us expert advice or technological support. Our main sponsor, the maintenance company G.Tim-Co. Kft., deserves our special gratitude for granting safe storage space and excellent technological backgrounds for
maintenance and technical restoration of our motive power since the beginnings of our preservation activities. This contribution has been essential for our achievements that gain acknowledgement even in the international railway enthusiast community. Péter Sági, another outstanding supporter of our group, and his enterprise FORT Kft., made a major contribution to the revision of 618 010. Thanks to his help and state-of-the-art cleaning technology, we could clean and prepare carbody parts for repairs at the highest quality attainable today.

After years of preparation, many of our long-term plans became reality in 2016. The year has been as decisive for our future as 2001, the year of purchasing our first locomotive, M61-010. Yet, the outstanding events will now be followed by years of - less spectacular - hard work again, but we hope that our achievements will make us worthy of continued
support.

Recalling the service years of our new locomotive Di3.623 with the picture attached, we wish all our friends and supporters a merry and blessed Christmas and a happy and successful 2017.
